Kim & Matt Recap | Norfolk Botanical Garden | Norfolk, VA

Kim and I met through my very good friend and killer makeup artist, Sharra. I am so thankful to have met her! She was quite possibly one of my most gracious brides ever. I think she thanked me at least a dozen times for helping make her dream come true.

It wasn't all roses and butterflies, despite the wedding taking place at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. The morning of she and Matt's big day, I probably checked the weather 20 times before noon. You see, the entire wedding experience was scheduled to be outside. Having to make a call on rain is the worst kind of pressure, especially when the forecast changes with each passing hour. Thanks to the wise council from Jeremy of Blue Steel and Liz of Norfolk Botanical Garden, we all decided to move cocktail hour and the reception inside. At 9 pm when the heavens opened up, I was SO RELIEVED to know we made the right call.

Enjoy a few of my favorite moments from Sunday. All pics are from my iPhone. The real ones from Christian Agha will be coming soon! You will LOVE them!

I am SO HAPPY we took a chance on the outdoor ceremony. It was perfect!

Supper - Southern Morsels in Norfolk catered. The menu included fried chicken, salmon, mashed potatoes, and other comfort foods. And at Kim's request, they served dinner family style. It was cozy and felt like a holiday meal at Grandma's house. I loved it!

This little guy is one of my favorite details! Matt bought this for Kim when they started dating. Her ring bearer carried this cute teddy down the aisle. SO CUTE!

Kim's mom, Barb, loves flowers. She has a massive flower garden in her back yard. Between her collection, some she purchased, and cuttings from her friends' yards, she made some killer floral arrangements. I'm a sucker for hydrangeas, especially this deep blue.

Blue Steel Lighting created such a romantic atmosphere with simple market lights. If you've never seen Baker Hall in the daytime, I'll just let you know it's a fine space, but lacks this kind of magic. Folks, lighting changes EVERYTHING!

Whipped Up by Mimi blew everyone away with this delicious beauty. I won't tell you how many pieces I had, but you should know the baby made me do it. ;)

I'm certain this intimate reception will stay fresh in my mind for years to come. Kim and Matt are so loved by their guests. Because most everyone was from out of town, a good number of people were there til the end. In fact, the dance floor stayed full until the last song.

Again, congrats to Kim and Matt! Best of luck as you start your new life together in Toronto!
