Thankful for Mondays | Thanksgiving Weekend

As I write this, my cats are playing on the floor next to my desk, coffee is brewing, and Cal is in the other room, doing his own work. I wish every day looked like this. Alas, there are places to go, jobs to work, and people to see. I've always walked the fine line between people person and homebody. Most days, I'd rather stay in, work from the couch, and order my groceries online. (Ha! I haven't fully converted to online food shopping, but some essentials arrive via Target Subscription. It's SO convenient!)

This Thanksgiving weekend looked a little different than any other. My grandfather was taken to the hospital on Wednesday. So, for the first time in my life, he wasn't at Thanksgiving lunch with our huge family. Cal and I went to visit him that evening, which turned out to be such a blessing to him and us.

I made pies as my Thanksgiving contribution. Using a friend's old family recipe, I made chess pie, which tastes like custard. I hope we will get to host family at our house one day, but for now, we will stick with tradition. #trashcanphotobomb

Our yearly photo, just us girls. I didn't take a single picture at my family's Thanksgiving dinner. Obviously, I didn't take this one either. ;) Our cousin, Christabel, my sister-in-law, Sarah, and our cousin, Susie.

I got home Thursday evening, after being gone for 10 HOURS. Why is this important? Frasier was locked in the coat closet THE ENTIRE TIME. My poor baby!!! We walked in the door and NIles was hanging out, all like, "hey dudes!" I heard crying and checked the bedrooms, bathrooms, and pantry before I checked the coat closet. Honestly, I took it worse than he did. I was traumatized. Bad cat mom status right here.

Lastly, I am finally feeling safe (from all you Christmas-before-Thanksgiving-haters) to post pictures of my Christmas decorations. So here's my mantle. I'll probably do a December house update to include everything I've done so far. This year is definitely slim pickin's in the decor department. Because we have spent SO MUCH MONEY getting the house to where it is, we didn't put a lot into our decorating budget. BUT NEXT YEAR, I AM GOING BIG!

I realize this isn't the best picture, but it's what I had on my phone, and I'm too warm and comfy at my desk (now, with a cat on my lap) to get up. :) AAAAAAAANDDDDD!!!! I am doing a SUPER FUN giveaway TOMORROW!!!!!! Have a great week!
