Thoughts on Being Pregnant | Week 16

HOW is this possible? Week sixteen? It feels like an eternity since I saw those two pink lines.

Cal and I had our 4 week check up this past week. Doc said the baby's heart sounds strong and just where it needs to be. She also reassured me that I don't need to be showing right now, despite what other pregnant women experience. I got to brag to her that I've been drinking copious amounts of water, something I've always wanted (and tried) to do, but now I have a really good excuse. Hands down, I am most excited that baby and I are healthy. That's all I really want.

Names
I don't think we are going to share the baby's name until he or she is born. I still don't have a clue, but in the event that I pick something no one likes, I will not want to subject my decision to a bunch of opinions. Besides, Cal has some pretty strange names on his radar. (Someone help me!)

Coffee
My affinity for coffee has (75%) returned. It is well with my soul. Praise the Lord!

Cats
Whether you are pregnant or not, you should definitely check out THIS CAT BOX! It has literally changed my life and makes Cal a happier husband. I have mentioned it before, but Josh and Sarah gave this to us for Christmas, even before they knew we were expecting. Get the one with the lid...you will not be sorry. We only have to fuss with it when it's time to change the tray and that's only once every 10 days. SO easy!

Clothes
No one ever told me how AMAZING (expensive) maternity jeans are! I tried on some at Target and Kohl's, but found no answers there. I bit the bullet and bought some on sale from Motherhood and they are incredible. When I finally get to start wearing them, you may see an extra bounce in my step.

Maternity Photos, Newborn Session, and Preschool
Is it too early to think about these things? JK about the preschool part. I have very little knowledge of newborn photogs in Hampton Roads. Leave a comment at the bottom of this post (not on fb or instagram, please) if you have a recommendation.

People and Strangers
I don't like people touching me. At least, I don't like when people I don't know or hardly know touch me. This part of pregnancy makes me super anxious. And when some friends told me that random MEN will walk up to pet the belly, that really freaked me out. I just really love my personal space. If we're close friends or you let me pet your belly or you were there for my 2nd birthday party, then you're probably safe.

Nursery
I know exactly what I want the nursery to look like! For once, I actually have a cohesive design in mind and know what I need to make it happen. This has not been the case with any other room in my house. Generally, I am so scatterbrained when it comes to decorating. My dad is going to work his magic in just a few weeks and start the transformation! Can't wait!!!

I am overwhelmed by the support from friends, family, and people in our community. Everyone has been so sweet to congratulate us. We've even received a few gifts already. I can tell this kid will never lack for love!

In the coming weeks, Cal will be making a guest appearance here AND I'll be sharing about our big ultrasound!
